Grief & Bereavement Counseling
Grief is the emotional suffering we feel when someone we love is taken away. We may experience other types of loss especially sickness. We may have lost a job, or housing. This is something that forces many into a state of grief. While grief is a common experience, it’s also deeply personal and unique to each individual.
Symptoms of Grief
Grief can manifest in a variety of ways, both emotional and physical. Some common symptoms of grief include: sadness or sorrow, difficulty sleeping, changes in appetite, anger, feelings of numbness, irritability, lack of energy, or difficulty concentrating.
If we’ve suppressed grief, it can result in prolonged distress, feelings of guilt, regret, or physical health problems. Grief that is not delt with can potentially evolve into complicated grief or major depression, leading to require professional treatment.
It may be time to seek professional help. As a counselor I am trained in grief therapy and can provide you with the tools and strategies needed to elevate grief.
